ASAP (After School Action Program)The After School Action Program (ASAP) provides middle school youth with safe after school alternatives that promote responsibility and healthy decisions. A variety of activities are offered that challenge students both mentally and physically to reach their goals. All GISD Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are encouraged to register. A parent or legal guardian must register his/her student(s) in person at his/her school. Class sizes are limited so early registration is always recommended. The After School Action Program (ASAP), Operation Achievement (a South Western University tutorials program), SPURS (a faith-based program of Georgetown Youth Ministries), have plugged in and teamed up to offer 4 days a week of after school programming for middle school students. Enrollment: All Georgetown middle school students are encouraged to register. ASAP will be available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at Benold. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Forbes and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Tippit. ASAP students meet in the cafeteria for a snack and then they are released to their selected classes. A free bus ride home is offered to all ASAP students, at 6:00pm, at the end of the program or they may be picked up. There is a reasonable charge for ASAP, which is determined on a sliding scale based upon what school lunch program you are eligible for. Contact us, visit the ASAP website or call 943-5000, Ext. 6925 for more information on enrollment, volunteering, or how Georgetown is plugging in with ASAP! SPURS and Operation Achievement will be available one day a week at each of the middle schools. SPURS and Operation Achievement are from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. If you pick up your student at 5:00 p.m. there will be no charge for either. Any student may participate in SPURS but they must be nominated to participate in Operation Achievement. Please contact your middle school campus for more information. Partners: Office of National Drug Control Policy, The Georgetown Project, GISD, Georgetown Parks and Recreation, the Williamson County Art Guild, Georgetown Youth Ministries, Theatre Action Project, and Southwestern University
