For Kids...         
 
Toddler Time, Wednesday, July 6, from 9:30 – 10:30 am, for children from 9 months – 3 years old and their parent/caregiver, FREE.  This is an hour of unstructured play, sensory play, and a sharing time for parents.  The parent remains with the child for interactive play.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. University Avenue, Georgetown.
 
Kid City 2011 is a half-day summer enrichment program for Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) students Kindergarten - 5th Grade (as of the 2010-2011 school year).  Campers must quality for either the FREE or REDUCED Lunch program within GISD.  Students will receive breakfast and lunch as part of the program.  Kid City is being held at McCoy Elementary School, 1313 Williams Drive Monday - Friday 8 am - 12 noon.  The cost is $10 per child per week; $5 per week sibling rate, no refunds.  Activities include arts and crafts, swimming, games, picnics, field trips, and other presentations.

Training Classes
 
“Infants, Toddlers, and Two’s:  Jump Starting the Future,” Wednesday, July 6, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, taught by Dr. Laura D. Lamper, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn about realistic expectations for infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds, and will learn about developmental milestones and appropriate guidance for this age group. Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "Ages and Stages:  Guidance Tools to Match," Saturday, July 9, from 9 am - 12 noon, taught by Dr. Laura D. Lamper, $20 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn about a child's development, milestones, and how they can effectively guide the child.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. University Avenue, Georgetown.
 
"Relating Effectively to the Child with ADHD or Oppositional Defiant Behavior," Tuesday, July 12, from 7 - 9 pm, taught by Brad Mason, LPC, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn the risks that conventional wisdom about discipline and behavior intervention pose to the at-risk child and how commonly accepted methods actually create oppositional and defiant behavior.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "Help!  This Child Is Driving Me Crazy:  Discipline Techniques That Work,"  Wednesday, July 13, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, taught by Dr. Laura D. Lamper, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Workshop addresses important discipline skills which empower young children, ages 30 months - school age, who are seemingly difficult. Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "Basic Parenting of Infants and Toddlers," Wednesday, July 20, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, taught by Lexy Largent, $10 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn basic parenting  skills, how to keep their child safe, and the importance of parent-child interaction and play.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "What's Going on in There:  Brain Development," Thursday, July 21, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, taught by Dr. Laura D. Lamper, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn how positive experiences nourish the brain and actually make children smarter.  They will learn that healthy environments are free from threat. "Toolkit for Teaching Social Skills to Children aged 3 - 12," Tuesday, July 26, from 7 - 9 pm, taught by Brad Mason, LPC, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Participants will learn how to coach children in the thinking and problem-solving skills they neeed to be more flexible, less anxious, more compliant, and help them develop positive peer relationships.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "Recharging Your Battery:  Overcoming Burnout," Thursday, July 28, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, taught by Dr. Laura D. Lamper, $15 per person, payable to the instructor at the class.  Workshop is especially for childcare providers to help them find renewed energy for their job and overcome burnout.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. "Building Relationships with Families," Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, taught by Yolanda Delgado, $30 per person, payable in cash to the instructor at the class.  Participants wll learn about the benefits of building positive relationships and ways of working with families.  Class is designed for childcare providers.  Pre-registration is required, (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W. Cricut Machine Training Class is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the Discovery Room, Room 119, FREE.  The Cricut machine is an electronic die cutting machine which enables the user to cut paper in various shapes and letters in a number of different sizes.  Users who are trained on the machine will be eligible to use it at Bridges during regular hours (Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 am - 7 pm) for $5 per hour or $1.25 minimum fee.  We will not use construction paper on the Cricut machine.  You may bring your own card stock or purchase our 12 x 12 sheets for twenty cents each.  We also have a wide variety of patterned papers available at this price.  Please pre-register (512) 864-3008.  Bridges to Growth, Community Resource Center, 805 W.
