Guiding Healthy Choices

A drug prevention initiative funded by grants from the Texas Commission on Alcohol & Drug Abuse and the Office of Juvenile Justice to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among Georgetown youth age 12-17 by providing tools for parents and skills for kids.  GHC activities include:

§     Parent Education and regular direct mail communication with middle school and high school parents on how to communicate with their children about alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, is ongoing.

§     Healthy Alternatives that provide positive intergenerational and drug-free activities for Georgetown teens to hang out together and serve community are offered monthly. 

§   Community Awareness targets adults in Georgetown with a consistent message that underage drinking is a problem in our community and together…parents, youth, church, and community…we can make a difference!
